ST. PAUL, MN – Tonight, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan released the following statements after officially winning the DFL nomination for the Minnesota gubernatorial election.
“Minnesota has rallied to overcome historic challenges, and together we’re making progress,” said Gov. Walz. “We’re working to keep unemployment at an all-time low and ensure wages continue to go up. I’m running for a second term so that we can continue to lower costs, fully fund education, improve public safety, and protect a woman’s right to choose. Together, we can and will move Minnesota forward.”
Under the Walz-Flanagan administration, unemployment is at a record low for any state in the entire country. Gov. Walz also signed into law affordable insulin legislation, the largest middle class tax cut in 20 years, hero pay for frontline workers, and a historic investment in education. He also led an effective, nation-leading COVID response that saved lives and has issued an executive order to protect abortion rights in Minnesota.
“We are going to protect abortion access and fight for Minnesota’s working families,” said Lt. Gov. Flanagan. “I am proud of what we have accomplished these last four years, and I’m excited to build on that success by expanding childcare, investing in classrooms, and tackling climate change. We are going to spend the next 90 days talking to voters in every corner of the state about our vision for Minnesota’s future.”
The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
