Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan Release First Slate of Endorsements Ahead of Precinct Caucuses

The diverse and robust support from organizations across the state reflects the strength of the Walz-Flanagan campaign and provide a strong boost as the campaign season kicks off

[ST. PAUL, MN] — Today, the Walz-Flanagan campaign announced support from a broad and diverse coalition of organizations and leaders across Minnesota heading into tonight’s precinct caucuses. The wide-ranging and robust support for the campaign draws a sharp contrast with the divided field of GOP challengers. This is the first of several sets of endorsements that the campaign will be releasing.

This strong show of support demonstrates that the Walz-Flanagan ticket will have the resources necessary to build the large statewide campaign necessary to reach voters in every corner of Minnesota and to win re-election in November.

Nichole Johnson, Walz-Flanagan campaign manager, released the following statement:

“We are incredibly proud to have earned the trust and confidence of these organizations and their members. This administration has delivered time and again on the issues that matter most to Minnesotans. These endorsements are no accident, they reflect the hard work put in by Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan in their first term, and represent a clear contrast we have with our opponents. We are excited to release this initial list and will continue to build off this momentum with more endorsements in the near future.”

Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council-President Joe Fowler
“The Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council is proud to endorse Governor Tim Walz for a second term,” said Joe Fowler, President of the Building and Construction Trades Council. “The Governor has dedicated his life to public service, is an advocate for working people and is an ally of Minnesota’s 70,000 union construction professionals. We are especially grateful for the Governor’s leadership in investing in Minnesota’s infrastructure that will benefit all of our communities.”

Conservation Minnesota Voter Center, Board Chair John Curry
“The Conservation Minnesota Voter Center announces the endorsement of Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan in their 2022 campaign for re-election as Governor and Lt. Governor of Minnesota.  The Walz/Flanagan campaign has proposed the most ambitious climate policies in the history of Minnesota’s Executive Branch to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and curb the consequences of climate change in our state. The Walz/Flanagan state budget proposals have devoted more resources than ever before in helping reduce climate pollution, adapting our homes and landscapes to the changing climate, and preparing communities to mitigate severe weather caused by climate change,” said CMVC Board Chair John Curry. “Minnesota’s air, land, water, wildlife and people need champions like Tim and Peggy leading the fight for clean lakes and rivers and healthy outdoor recreation opportunities in all corners of the state. Tim and Peggy are empowering Minnesota communities to be leaders in fighting climate change and that ambition is necessary for another four years to ensure our people and our planet are healthy and thriving – and prepared for the future ahead.”

Minnesota Farmers Union PAC, Chair Gary Wertish
“We’ve enjoyed a long relationship with Governor Walz, starting with his time in Congress. And we know that he always has our back,” said Gary Wertish, MFU PAC Chair. “That’s been true throughout the challenges of these past three years–be that dealing with outbreaks in meat processing plants, barn collapses, or this summer’s drought. It’s been meaningful to know that the Walz-Flanagan administration will be a strong partner to family farmers. I’m proud to voice our support for their reelection and I look forward to working with them to rebuild local processing and supply chains, support beginning farmers, tackle climate change, expand the use of biofuels, and otherwise build a food system that’s more distributed, resilient, and fair.”

Women Winning, Interim Executive Director Marnie K. Wells
“With Roe’s future uncertain, the stakes have never been higher for protecting access to safe and legal abortion in Minnesota. We are proud to endorse Lieutenant Governor Flanagan, a pro-choice champion who will hold the line against the push to roll back reproductive rights at the state level,” said Marnie K. Wells, Interim Executive Director of Women Winning. “We have some of our most important work ahead of us, which is why we are excited to make this unprecedented endorsement of a lieutenant governor, and thrilled to work to re-elect Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.”
